Judy Fjell is a natural teacher who empowers all those with whom she comes in contact, whether it be her audiences at concerts, children or teachers who are part of a Voice-Centered Education Workshop, members of a congregation or community chorus, private students, or campers at Women Making Music or Summersing.
She holds bachelors degrees in Art, Asian Studies, and Elementary Education and spent several years teaching music in the Oregon public schools in the late 70s before beginning pursuit of her singer-songwriter career in the 80s. She now teaches private students in guitar, voice, ukulele in Big Timber, Montana when not on tour. She has recently been chosen as president-elect of the music education organization, Music EdVentures, Inc. Her Vo-CE (Voice-Centered Education) workshops and artist-in-residence programs continue to inspire children and teachers in northern California. She has been invited many times to teach at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop near Port Orchard, Washington and also to Japan, where she often teaches English through folk songs and games for English EdVentures Inc. and NPO SMILE.
In February of 2010 Honey Pie Music released Judy Fjell's Beginner Ukulele Book 1 as the first in the GOOD DOG UKULELE SCHOOL instruction series. Stay tuned for more on this new development through this website and through www.gooddogukuleleschool.com
